I've started posting entries from my honeymoon journal, with links to photos. Check it out.

First week on the job

I'm coming to the end of my first week on the job at Enpocket. I'm getting up to speed, I'm really excited about the opportunity and the company. I started just in time to attend a company meeting yesterday that gave me a great overview of the company, its products and strategy going forward. I also got to meet some of the out-of-town and overseas folks and one of the founders. Afterward, a bunch of us went over to Jillian's in Boston for company-sponsored party, which was a great time.

I also found out my old company has laid-off some of my former co-workers. I guess things aren't looking so great. It's disappointing that it went that way. I really enjoyed working with the people there.

But I'm happy about where I am and I'm excited about Enpocket. Onward!

U2 in New York, Madison Square Garden

Nneka and I went to another U2 show Saturday night in Madison Square Garden, New York. It was another awesome show. We were in seats this time, behind the stage and to the right. Nneka and I were tired from tromping around New York in the rain all afternoon, so we were glad to have the option to sit for some of the show.

They played much of the same set list, but the mixed it up a bit, with All I Want is You and Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses. During With or Without You, when Bono usually just has a pretty girl come up on stage to sing and dance with him, he pulled up a man wearing a turban and thick beard, who seemed to really get into it. Mary J Blige came for a special guest duet on One.

Nneka showed me some of her favorite places to shop for clothes. I broke a record for the most shoes I've ever bought in one day. (She's really getting me into this whole fashion thing ) She also introduced me to some of her closest friends in New York. The heavy rain put a damper on things, but overall, it was a great weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed myself.

New job

Last week, I put in my two-week notice at my current employer, Service Integrity, and will be starting a new job on October 17. Although I'll miss working with such a great team, this is a great opportunity for me and I'm very excited. As a Technical Lead, I will have more responsibility, as I take on my first management-level role.

Wish me luck!

Cape Cod with my parents

This week, my parents were vacationing on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, and I took the opportunity to introduce them to Nneka for the first time. They seemed to hit it off well, which is good news. We had a lovely weekend this past weekend (Oct 1 & 2). We enjoyed a couple of nice dinners together, and a trip to Provincetown. We also had a bit of adventure as I had (yet another) mishap with my car, and got stuck for 4 hours in the small town of Wellfleet (on the Cape).

Apparently, the radiator was blown. To make a long story short, I had leave my car on the Cape to be repaired, and Nneka and I had to stay an extra night with my parents. We both got to work late on Monday in my rental car.

Nneka and I went to the U2 concert together on Tuesday, and then I drove back to pick up my car and spend Wednesday and Thursday with my parents again on the Cape. I'll put some photos from our trip up here soon.

U2 in Boston

I had main floor tickets to the U2 show Tuesday night, and Nneka went with me. (Unfortunately, my brother, Matt, couldn't make it. He would have enjoyed it, and I missed having him there.)

It was spectactular! Not only did they put on another great show (I've seen them live before), but we were only about 10 or 20 feet away from the front of the elliptical ramp. Whenever any of the band members came out to the front, we could actually see their faces. It was awesome!

Technically, they didn't allow cameras in the stadium, but everyone and his mother has a digital camera built into their mobile phone, including me, so that's where the photos came from. They're not great pictures, at least I can say I was there. I did a few video recordings as well. The sound quality is terrible, but it was fun to do nonetheless. Enjoy!
